1. Commitment to Price Transparency

E Medical Center is committed to price transparency and helping patients understand their financial obligations. Standard charge information is provided as a reference and does not guarantee that a specific charge will apply to a specific patient or service. Final charges depend on the actual services provided, the patient’s clinical condition, insurance coverage, and other factors.

2. Machine-Readable Files

Standard charges for all items and services are available in machine-readable files. These files include gross charges, discounted cash prices, payer-specific negotiated charges, and de-identified minimum and maximum negotiated charges across all payers. The files are updated at least annually and are available from the Patient Financial Services Department or through the patient portal.

3. Consumer-Friendly Display of Standard Charges

E Medical Center makes available a consumer-friendly display of standard charges for at least 300 shoppable services. A shoppable service is a service that can be scheduled in advance by a consumer.

The consumer-friendly display includes:

  • Plain-language descriptions of services
  • Common billing or CPT codes
  • Gross charges
  • Discounted cash prices
  • Typical payer charges for common insurance carriers
  • Information on how to obtain additional cost estimates

This display is available on the E Medical Center website, at registration desks, and through the patient portal.

4. Estimates for Scheduled Services

For scheduled services, patients may request a good-faith estimate of expected charges. The estimate will include items and services reasonably expected to be furnished, expected charges for each item and service, and disclaimers explaining that actual charges may vary based on clinical circumstances and unforeseen events.

5. Additional Resources

Patients are encouraged to contact Patient Financial Services for personalized assistance with understanding charges, insurance coverage, financial assistance, and payment options.

6. Limitations

Standard charge information is provided as a reference only. Final charges depend on the actual services provided, the patient’s clinical condition, insurance coverage, and other factors. E Medical Center does not guarantee that any specific charge will apply to a specific patient or service.
